Your game master
The show has a host, and he does not like you. PROXXY wears a bird mask and a crown, comments on every mistake and guides you through the entire world of SO CLOSE.
“Aww, look at you trying so hard. How adorable. Let's see how long that lasts.”
PROXXY hosts every run of SO CLOSE like a twisted game show. He watches every mistake, narrates every death and feeds the audience your suffering. The more you suffer, the higher the rating — and the rating is the only thing he cares about.
You meet him through screens in the level, announcements and handwritten notes he leaves behind. “Don't touch my stuff.” reads one of them, signed with a small, satisfied smiley.
The project was originally announced as PROXXY. Before release we renamed it: the game is now called SO CLOSE — after the feeling that describes every single run: so close to the exit, and still dead.
The name PROXXY stayed, but it belongs to the game master now. If you searched for “PROXXY game” or “PROXXY Steam”, you are in the right place: same project, same Steam page (App ID 4944470), same team.
SO CLOSE is staged as a game show: there is an audience, a rating and a host who serves both. That framing is not decoration — it explains why the level is allowed to be unfair. You are not in a test lab, you are in a broadcast that lives off your mistakes.
