The Game
SO CLOSE is a co-op ragebait game for one to four players on PC. You escape a linear level full of unpredictable traps together — tied by a collar that detonates if you drift too far apart.
SO CLOSE is a co-op game for 1–4 players on Windows PC, releasing 1 October 2026 via Steam. The premise fits in one sentence: a team escapes a linear level that finds a new way to break them every few metres. SO CLOSE is developed by Applaunch and published by KMGGames from Bochum, Germany.
We call the genre ragebait co-op: precision-platformer mechanics, deliberately unfair traps and a co-op rule that turns every individual mistake into a team problem. If you liked Chained Together or Level Devil, you already know what you're in for — SO CLOSE combines both.
Every player wears a collar. Drift too far apart and it detonates — taking the whole team with it. Nobody can rush ahead, nobody can hang back. Every jump is an agreement, every trap a group problem.
One dies, everyone dies. In Realism the run then restarts from zero, in Easy from the last checkpoint. More on the gameplay page.
The level looks harmless. That's exactly why it makes you scream.
One dies, everyone dies. Work together or sink together.
Traps without warning. The level actively plays against you.
Learn the route, chase the best time. Precision beats speed.
For groups who want to get loud together: four friends on a call, duos who blame each other, and streamers whose audience tunes in for exactly that. Solo works too — you just lose the part that hurts the most and is the most fun.
Every run is hosted by PROXXY, the game master in the bird mask. He comments on every mistake and every death as if your failure were a TV show. It is.
